The Relationship Between Mass and Luminosity – by A. Almond-Harvey

February 13, 2020 by Contributing Writer

Image of a bright star near a purple nebulaas my love for you grows
I understand that you have
a universe of your own
which is far too vast for
me to travel in one lifeĀ

and yet, you have gifted me the
room to be a star in your sky
to command wells of
gravity flowing around my
point in time and space

which is found deep in
your sector of the galaxy.
each time I leave I feel
pulled towards the event
horizon in the center of it all,

and yet, you hold the distance
between us so carefully I am
not pulled apart and consumed.

your star in my realm is near my
favorite nebula. it beams the
most vivid blaze, even when
the darkness reminds me of my
fears that I will lose you

but a dying star still emits light.
